Regulations

Here are the recreational fishing regulations.  The official .pdf can be found here.

As Spearo’s it is our duty to abide by and enforce these size and bag limits.  It is due to over fishing and simple abuse that we have these restriction in place. I urge you all to become familiar with the tables below and help new spearfisherman increase their knowledge about the seas, life therein and regulations.

Remember there are closed seasons to many species that I have not listed below (soon to come) so please beware of that and do the necessary research before jumping in the water and shooting anything with gills and fins.

Please not you are not allowed to catch or target the following species of fish in South Africa: Great White Shark, Brindle Bass, potato Bass, Seventy Four, Natal Wrasse, Red (Copper) Steenbras (<- new [December 2012])
